How to Make Hazelnut Butter Cookies
- Prep Time: 10 to 15 minutes
- Cook Time: 10 to 12 minutes
- Total Time: 20 to 25 minutes
- Yield: About 18 cookies
Ingredients
- 1 365g jar of hazelnut butter (we love this brand and always stock up when it’s on sale.
- ½ cup melted butter
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup white sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1.5 cups flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup chocolate chips
Baking Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and pre-line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place your butter in a stainless steel pan and melt slowly on medium with your stovetop. You could also use the microwave.
- In a medium bowl, add 365g of hazelnut butter (we love and highly recommend this scale for baking) or the contents of one full container of our favorite hazelnut butter.
- Mix your hazelnut butter and oil so that it is evenly combined. I don’t recommend doing this in the hazelnut butter container because the oil gets messy and all over the counters! Its just easier and cleaner to do it in a separate medium sized bowl.
- In another a large bowl, add your melted butter.
- Add brown sugar and white sugar to your large bowl with melted butter and combine.
- Add one large egg and mix until well combined.
- Transfer the hazelnut butter from your medium bowl into the large bowl and combine with your brown and white sugar, butter, and egg mixture.
- In a medium bowl, add your flour, baking power, and salt. Mix with a fork to combine.
- Once your dry goods are combined, slowly pour the contents into your large mixing bowl with the hazelnut butter.
- When it looks less streaky, add your chocolate chips and mix it so they’re evenly spread throughout your dough.
- Flour the work surface where you will be rolling out your hazelnut butter cookie dough.
- Once its well floured, use a rolling pin to get it down to about a 1/4 of an inch high.
- Use a cookie cutter to cut out your hazelnut butter cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheet with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Gently press the tops slightly flat with your fingers or the back of a spoon.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the edges are set and the centers look slightly soft – use a toothpick to check that the centre is done.
- Remove the baking tray from your oven and allow cookies to cool on your baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Pour a glass of your favorite milk and enjoy!

Tips & Variations
- For softer cookies, remove them from the oven while the centers still look a bit more pale.
- For crispier edges, bake for an extra minute or two.
- Add chopped hazelnuts or a drizzle of melted chocolate for extra texture and flavor.
- Swap out your milk chocolate chips for white chocolate chips!
